Reschedule Hours in Resource Planning

Learn how to reassign or shift planned hours when availability or project timelines change.

The Reschedule function in PSOhub allows you to quickly adjust planned hours when a resource becomes overloaded, unavailable, or when the project timing needs to shift. This ensures your planning remains realistic and aligned with actual capacity across your entire team.

Accessing the Reschedule Function

The Reschedule button is available directly inside the Project Resource Planning module. Each resource-based planning line includes its own Reschedule button, allowing you to modify only the specific assignment that needs adjustment.

To access it:

  1. Open the project and go to the Contract tab.
  2. Click Resource Planning.
  3. In Project Resource Planning, locate the resource whose planning you want to adjust.
  4. On that planning line, click Reschedule.

Clicking this button opens a modal with two options:

  • Replace Resource - reassign the planned hours to a different resource
  • Change Planning - shift the timing of the planned hours for the same resource

These options allow you to correct overload, adjust for availability, or realign timelines quickly without deleting or recreating any planning.

Reassign the Work to Another Resource

Use Replace Resource when the planned work needs to be reassigned to another team member who has availability or better fits the project timeline.

When you select this option, PSOhub opens the Schedule Role Overview, which shows:

  • All resources who match the required role

  • A Match % score indicating how well each resource fits based on availability

  • Monthly availability indicators (green/blue = available, red = overloaded)

  • A preview of how the reassignment affects the resource’s load

To replace the resource:

  1. Review the list of available resources.
  2. Select the new resource you want to assign.
  3. A confirmation message appears.
  4. Click Confirm & Replace.

What happens next?
  • All planned hours move from the original resource to the selected resource.
  • Capacity updates immediately across Capacity Management and Resource Planning.
  • Hours remain distributed in the same pattern (Month/Week/Day).

 

Shift Planned Hours for the Same Resource

Use Change Planning when the work should remain assigned to the same resource, but their planned hours need to be redistributed into periods where they have more availability. This is essential when a resource is overloaded in some months but still has capacity in others.

When you select this option, PSOhub opens a Reschedule view showing:

  • Hours currently planned for the resource on the project
  • Total hours available across all months

To adjust the planning:

  1. Review the monthly capacity indicators.
  2. Reduce or remove hours in months where the resource is overloaded.
  3. Add hours to months where the resource has availability.
  4. Click Save & Reschedule to apply the updated planning.

 

What happens next?

  • The new hour distribution immediately replaces the previous plan.

  • All changes flow through to Resource Planning, Capacity Management, and Project Planning.

  • Planned hours roll up correctly across Month, Week, and Day views.

  • Your ETC remains aligned with actual workload and timing.
