How to View Your Default Business Unit
📌 Note: When your organization is created in PSOhub, your organization name is set up as the top-level business unit by default. All additional business units are created beneath it.
Steps
- Click the Gear icon in the main menu to open Settings.
- Select Organization.
- Navigate to the Business Units tab.
- Click your organization's name to view its properties. The table below describes the fields in the Business Unit dialog box in the General tab:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Business Unit Name | Displays your organization name by default. You can edit this name if needed. |
| Utilization Target % | Displays the target utilization percentage for your organization as a whole. |
| Is Legal Entity | Checked by default for your organization as a legally registered entity that operates independently for legal, financial, or tax purposes. |
| Projects and Templates Can Only Be Linked to Legal Entities | Check this box if you do not want associated projects and templates linked to child business units. |
| Exclude from Utilization Report | Check this box if you do not want your organization's booked time included in utilization reporting. |
| Use Existing Financial Integration | Leave blank if you are not connecting to a financial solution. If you are connecting, finalize your business unit structure first, then return here to select the integration. If already connected, select your financial integration here. |
| Inherit Financials to Child Business Units | Checked by default. All child business units inherit the financial settings of the parent. Uncheck this to allow individual business units to connect to their own financial software independently. |
| Team Lead Approval for Hours | Enabling allows you to configure team lead approval for your business unit and corresponding child business units. |
| Project Manager Approval for Hours | Enabling allows you to configure project manager approval for your business unit and corresponding child business units. |
How to Create a New Business Unit
📌 Note: You can build your organizational structure by adding child business units under your top-level unit. Use these to represent teams, departments, legal entities, or any other grouping that reflects how your organization operates.
Steps
- On the Business Units tab, click the + button next to the business unit you want to create a child unit under.
- In the Add New Business Unit dialog box that appears, complete the fields below. Click Save when finished.
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Name | Enter the name of the new business unit. |
| Is Legal Entity | Enable this option if the business unit is a legally registered organization or company that operates independently for legal, financial, or tax purposes. Leave this unchecked for internal departments, teams, regions, or operational groups that are not separate legal organizations. |
| Add Users to Business Unit | Select the team members belonging to this business unit. |
| Utilization Target % | Displays the target utilization percentage for the business unit. |
| Exclude from Utilization Report | Check this box if you do not want this business unit's booked time included in utilization reporting. |
| Use Existing Financial Integration | If the parent business unit has Inherit financials enabled, this field is not editable and will inherit the parent integration automatically. |
| Team Lead Approval for Hours | Enabling allows you to configure team lead approval for your business unit and corresponding child business units. |
| Project Manager Approval for Hours | Enabling allows you to configure project manager approval for your business unit and corresponding child business units. |
📌 Note: In the Business Units tab, the parent business unit displays an expand/collapse chevron on the left. Click the chevron to show or hide the associated child business units.
