Understand how contract template amounts and budgets interact with currency settings when a template is applied to a project that uses a non-base currency.
Introduction
Contract templates in PSOhub are always stored in your organization's base currency. Any amounts or budgets defined in a template — such as fixed fee amounts or budget values — reflect the base currency at the template level.
When a contract template is applied to a project that uses a different currency, PSOhub converts the display to the project currency. However, the values themselves are carried across as absolute values — the numbers remain the same and are simply shown in the new currency rather than being converted using the exchange rate.
How It Works in Practice
In the template: Contract line amounts and budgets are defined and stored in the base currency.
In the project: When the template is applied to a project with a different currency (for example, Swedish Krona — SEK), the contract lines are displayed in SEK. The amounts shown are the same numbers as in the template, now expressed in the project currency.
This means that if your base currency is EUR and a contract line has an amount of €10,000, applying that template to an SEK project will display the amount as SEK 10,000 — not the EUR-to-SEK converted equivalent.
💡 Tip: After applying a contract template to a non-base currency project, review each contract line and update the amounts to reflect the agreed values in the project currency. The template values are a starting point, not a conversion.
Setting Up Contract Templates for Multi-Currency Projects
It is recommended to build a contract template before creating your projects, even when working with multiple currencies. A single template can serve as the basis for projects in any currency — just remember to update the contract line values after applying it to a non-base currency project.
