PSOhub 6.1.2 - MCP Connector — Ask Claude and ChatGPT About Your PSOhub Data

Dear PSOhub user,

With this release, PSOhub introduces the MCP Connector. It lets you connect an AI assistant of your choice, such as Claude or ChatGPT, to your PSOhub environment. Once connected, you can ask questions about your projects, hours, budgets, and invoices in plain language, and your AI assistant looks up the answers in PSOhub.

MCP stands for Model Context Protocol, an open standard that AI assistants use to connect to applications like PSOhub. The connector gives your AI assistant access to your data; the answers, summaries, and charts themselves are created by your AI assistant, not by PSOhub.

The MCP Connector is part of Agentic AI Insights, included on all PSOhub plans.

Ask Questions in Plain Language

Once connected, your AI assistant uses the connector to look up the data it needs, works out the answer, and presents it as text, a table, or a chart. Some answers come directly from PSOhub, such as a count of approved timesheets. Others are calculated by your AI assistant from the data it retrieves, such as the percentage of budget used across several projects.

You can ask about:

People and organization: employees, business units, and project roles
Projects and quotes: project details, stages, and project members
Customers: companies, contacts, and addresses
Time, tasks, and expenses: time entries, tasks, expenses, and calendar events
Contracts and budgets: contract totals, budgets, retainers, and installments
Invoicing: invoices, invoice lines, and taxes
Products: products, product categories, and price lists
Capacity and planning: capacity, absence, and resource planning

A few examples to get started:

"Use the PSOhub connector to show which active projects have used more than 80% of their budget."
"How many hours were booked on project [project number], and by whom?"
"Create a bar chart of budget used for my active projects, highest first."

📌 Note: Charts and reports created by your AI assistant stay in your AI assistant. They are not saved as reports in PSOhub.

Simple Three-Step Setup

Your organization enables the connector. An Admin enables it once for the whole organization in Settings > Organization > AI Insights, after reviewing the AI Insights Terms of Use.
Each user connects their own AI assistant. Admin and Controller users add PSOhub as a custom connector in Claude or ChatGPT, using the PSOhub MCP server URL below, and sign in with their own PSOhub account. PSOhub asks you to approve access before any data is shared.

Start asking questions. Begin your question with "Use the PSOhub connector to…" so your AI assistant knows where to look.

Step-by-step setup guides are available for both supported assistants:

Your Existing Permissions Apply

The connector works with your own PSOhub permissions. Your AI assistant can only see the data your account can already see in PSOhub. Connecting never gives you extra access.

Read-Only Access to Your Data

With Agentic AI Insights, the MCP Connector has read access to your PSOhub data. Your AI assistant can look up and summarize information, but it cannot create or change anything in PSOhub.

📌 Note: Write access, which will let your AI assistant create and update data such as time entries and projects, is planned for a later release as part of the Agentic AI Actions add-on.

📌 Note: Your AI assistant may have its own requirements too. To add PSOhub, you need to be able to add a custom connector in your AI assistant. In a managed company workspace, your workspace owner may control who can do this.

⚠️ Before You Connect: Your Data and Your AI Provider

When your AI assistant retrieves data through the MCP Connector, that data is sent to your AI provider and processed under the provider's terms and privacy policy, not PSOhub's. Before you connect:

Check your AI provider's settings for data retention, model training, and hosting region.
Make sure your organization allows PSOhub data to be shared with the AI provider you use.
Keep in mind that PSOhub may contain personal information about your employees, customers, and contacts.

You can disconnect at any time in your AI assistant's settings, and an Admin can disable the connector for the whole organization in PSOhub. Disconnecting stops new access, but it does not delete data that was already shared with your AI provider.

PSOhub logs connector requests, such as the time, the user, and the type of data requested, for security and support. These logs are kept for 30 days.

📌 Note: PSOhub supports Claude and ChatGPT. Other AI assistants that support custom connectors through MCP may also work, but PSOhub does not test or support them. AI assistants can make mistakes, especially when calculating totals from many records, so always verify important figures in PSOhub before relying on them for invoicing, financial, or HR decisions.
