Objective

This article explains how to use the Timeline in PSOhub to manage your project schedule. You will learn how to edit tasks directly from the Timeline, adjust task dates and durations, save a baseline, enable Rollup, and navigate the chart view.

Prerequisites

You must have Admin, Controller, Project Manager, or Team Member Plus access in PSOhub.

You must have a project setup with tasks, with at least one task that has a start and due date assigned.

Edit Task Details from the Timeline

You can open and edit any task directly from the Timeline without leaving the view.

Steps

  1. Open your project and click the Tasks tab.
  2. Click Timeline to switch to the Timeline view.
  3. Double-click a task bar in the chart. The Edit Task panel opens.
  4. Update any of the following fields as needed.
  5. Click Save.

Reschedule a Task to Different Dates

Drag a task bar to reschedule it without changing its duration.

Steps

  1. On the Timeline, hover over the task bar you want to move. The cursor changes to indicate the bar is draggable.
  2. Click and drag the task bar left or right to the new date position.
  3. Release the mouse. The task's start date and due date update automatically.

💡 Tip: The Start and Finish columns in the grid on the left update in real time as you drag,       so you can confirm the exact dates after moving the task.

Resize the Duration of a Task

Drag the edge of a task bar to extend or shorten the task without moving its start date.

Steps

  1. On the Timeline, hover over the left or right edge of a task bar. The cursor changes to a resize handle.
  2. Drag the edge to the new date position.
    • Drag the right edge to change the due date.
    • Drag the left edge to change the start date.
  3. Release the mouse. The task duration updates automatically.

📌 Note: The Duration column in the grid updates to reflect the new number of working             days between the start and due date.

Set Up a Baseline

A baseline saves a snapshot of your current schedule so you can compare it against the live plan as the project progresses.

Steps

  1. On the Timeline toolbar, click Baseline.
  2. Click Save baseline.
  3. Confirm when prompted. The baseline is saved.
  4. Click Baseline again and click Show baseline to toggle the baseline layer on.

The baseline appears as a secondary bar behind each task bar, showing the originally planned dates. Tasks that have shifted relative to their baseline are immediately visible.

💡 Tip: To hide the baseline layer without deleting it, click Show baseline again to toggle it          off.

Enable Rollup

Rollup adds a summary bar at the tasklist level, giving you a phase-level view of your schedule when tasklists are collapsed.

  1. On the Timeline toolbar, click Rollup to toggle it on.
  2. Click Collapse all in the toolbar to collapse all tasklists.

Each tasklist now displays a single summary bar showing the full span of work within that phase. Darker areas indicate where tasks overlap; gaps show periods with no scheduled tasks.

💡 Tip: Rollup is most useful for project reviews or stakeholder updates where you want a            clean, phase-level overview without the detail of individual tasks.

To turn Rollup off, click Rollup in the toolbar again.

Adjust the View

Use the Timeline toolbar controls to navigate the chart and change the level of detail visible.

Control What it does
Collapse all Collapses all tasklists in the grid to show only phase-level rows
Expand all Expands all tasklists to show individual tasks and milestones
Zoom in Increases the time scale, showing a narrower date range in more detail
Zoom out Decreases the time scale, showing a wider date range
Zoom to fit Resizes the chart to display the full project span in one view
Previous / Next arrows Scrolls the chart backward or forward in time

Change the Project Start Date

If tasks are appearing earlier than expected, or you need to shift the project's left boundary, you can update the project start date directly from the Timeline.

Steps

  1. On the Timeline toolbar, click Change Start Date.
  2. Select the new project start date.
  3. Choose whether to allow AI Copilot to automatically reschedule affected tasks, or apply the change without rescheduling.
  4. Click Confirm.

📌 Note: The Timeline uses your project start date as its left boundary. Any task scheduled       before the project start date will appear as if it starts on the project start date in the              chart, even though the task's stored dates remain unchanged. Setting the project start         date to coincide with or earlier than your first task prevents this.

Result

You can now manage your project schedule directly from the Timeline — editing task details, adjusting dates and durations, saving a baseline for comparison, and navigating between detailed and high-level views.

Changes made in the Timeline are reflected immediately across all other task views in PSOhub.
