Objectives

This article explains how to create and manage task dependencies on the Timeline view in PSOhub. By the end, you will be able to link tasks so that changes to one task automatically reflect the sequence of dependent work.

Prerequisites

You must have Admin, Controller or Project Manager access in PSOhub.

The project must have at least two tasks with start and end dates defined.

Steps

  1. Open your project and click the Tasks tab.
  2. Click Timeline to switch to the Timeline view.
  3. Locate the task you want to use as the predecessor (the task that must start or finish first).
  4. Hover over the task bar on the Gantt chart. Two small circles appear on either side of the task bar.
  5. Click one of the circles and drag it to the task bar you want to link to. A connector line appears between the two tasks as you drag.
  6. Release the mouse on the target task bar. The dependency is created and a connector arrow is displayed between the two tasks on the Timeline.
  7. Double-click the connector arrow to open the Edit dependency dialog.
  8. Click the Type dropdown and select the dependency type:
    • End to Start — the dependent task starts after the predecessor ends (default)
    • Start to Start — both tasks start at the same time
    • Start to End — the dependent task ends when the predecessor starts
    • End to End — both tasks end at the same time
  9. Set a Lag value in days if a delay is required between the two tasks. Enter 0 for no delay.
  10. Click Save.

Result

The dependency is saved and the connector arrow is visible on the Timeline. The dependent task is now sequenced relative to its predecessor based on the dependency type and lag you configured.
