Objective
This article explains how to plan resources using Capacity Management in PSOhub. You will plan hours against a resource's existing project assignments and add a new project to a resource before planning their hours.
Prerequisites
You must have Admin or Controller access level in PSOhub.
Each resource's working hours must be configured so PSOhub can calculate capacity.
At least one project with Contract Lines must already exist.
Access the Resource Planning Window
Start from Capacity Management and open the resource you want to plan for.
Steps
- Go to Resources and select Capacity Management.
- Find the resource you want to plan for. Use Filter role, Filter business unit, or Search resource to narrow the list if needed.
- Click the resource row to open the Resource Planning window.
The Resource Planning window shows everything planned for that person — all projects, their Contract Lines, holidays, and absences — with a monthly breakdown for each line.
Plan Hours Against An Existing Assigment
Use this path when the resource is already assigned to the project you want to plan.
Steps
- Locate the project and Contract Line you want to plan in the Resource Planning window.
- Click the cell for the month/week/day you want to plan.
- Enter the number of hours for that month.
- Press Enter or click outside the cell to save the value.
- Repeat for each month you want to plan.
📌 Note: The Budget column shows planned hours against the budgeted hours for each Contract Line. A negative or red value indicates the planned hours exceed the budget for that line.
Add a New Project and Plan Hours
Use this path when the resource is not yet assigned to the project you want to plan.
Steps
- Click + Add project in the top right of the Resource Planning window.
- Select the Customer from the dropdown.
- Select the Project from the dropdown.
- Select one or more Contract Line(s).
- Select one or more Role(s).
- Click Save.
📌 Note: If the resource is not yet part of the team, they are added to the project as an active member with the selected role(s).
The new project and its Contract Lines now appear in the Resource Planning window. Plan hours against them using the steps in Plan hours against an existing assignment above.
Result
The hours you enter are saved immediately and roll up into the resource's planned totals. The main Capacity Management grid reflects the updated allocation, and cells turn orange or red when the resource is overallocated for a period.
Next Steps
✅ Reassign or shift planned hours
Move planned hours to another resource or redistribute them across periods when availability or timelines change.
