Objective
Learn how PSOhub detects conflicts between a resource's registered absence and an assigned task, and what actions are available to resolve or ignore the conflict.
Introduction
When you assign a task to a resource in PSOhub, the system checks whether the assigned dates overlap with any registered absence for that resource. If a conflict is detected, PSOhub displays a warning so you can take action before the task is saved.
You have two options when a conflict appears: reschedule or reassign the task or keep the registered absence and proceed anyway.
⚠️ Important: If an assigned task overlaps with a registered absence for one or more resources, a warning appears at the point of assignment.
Option 1: Reschedule or Reassign the Task
Use this option if the task must be completed within the original timeframe and the absence cannot be moved.
- Click Cancel in the conflict warning dialog. The task returns to edit mode.
- Update the task using one of the following approaches:
- Change the task dates — adjust the Start Date or Due Date to avoid the period of absence.
- Reassign the task — assign the task to a different resource who is available during the original dates.
- Click Save.
Option 2: Keep the Registered Absence and Proceed
Use this option if the conflict can be accepted — for example, if the resource will still complete the task despite a partial absence, or if the absence has already been accounted for in the effort estimate.
- Click Proceed in the conflict warning dialog.
📌 Note: Proceeding does not remove or modify the registered absence. Both the absence and the task assignment remain in place. The conflict will be visible in Resources > Capacity Management and Resources > Scheduler.
Result
If you rescheduled or reassigned the task, the conflict is resolved and the task is saved with the updated dates or resource. If you proceeded, the task is assigned as entered and the absence remains registered. Project managers should monitor capacity and resource availability to ensure delivery is not impacted.
