Objective

This article explains how to open the Overall Timeline, select the projects you want to display, and navigate the consolidated Gantt chart view to monitor progress across your portfolio.

Prerequisites

You must have Admin or Controller access.

The projects you want to track must already exist and have plans with tasks and dates            assigned.

Access the Overall Timeline

Steps

  1. From the main menu, go to Tasks Timeline.
  2. Click Select Projects.
  3. In the dialog that appears, search or filter to find the projects you want to include.
  4. Use the Show column to select one or more projects.
  5. Click Save
  6. The Overall Timeline loads with all selected projects displayed. Each project appears as a row in the grid, with its tasks and milestones visible in the Gantt chart to the right.

💡 Tip: Use the eye icon to customize which columns are visible in the dialog. To remove all          selected plans and start over, click Deselect all plans at the bottom of the window.

View Project and Task Details in the Grid

The grid displays your selected projects in a hierarchy: Projects → TasklistsTasks. Expand or collapse any level to control how much detail is visible.

Column Description
Name The name of each plan, tasklist, task, or milestone
Start The scheduled start date
Finish The scheduled due date
Duration The total number of days between the start and finish dates
% Done Completion progress, shown as a percentage
Predecessors Tasks that must be completed before the current task can begin
Successors Tasks that depend on the current task being completed

Track Progress in the Chart

Each row in the grid corresponds to a bar or marker in the chart:

  • Dark blue bars represent Plans and Tasklists
  • Green bars represent individual Tasks
  • Diamond icons mark Milestones
  • Arrowed connectors show Dependencies between tasks — these are read-only in the Overall Timeline and must be set at the project level
  • The vertical red "Now" line marks today's date, giving you a live reference for where each project stands

Navigate the Timeline View

Icon Function
Collapse all / Expand all Collapse or expand all project plans in the grid
Zoom in / Zoom out Increase or decrease the time scale of the chart
Zoom to fit Automatically resize the chart to display all tasks in view
Previous / Next Scroll the chart forwards or backwards in time

Result

The Overall Timeline displays your selected projects in a single consolidated Gantt chart, split into two panels: a grid on the left and a Gantt chart on the right. You can compare schedules, track milestones, and monitor delivery dates across your portfolio at a glance.

Dependencies are visible but read-only. To add or edit dependencies, open the individual project plan.
