Objective
This article explains how to use completion management in PSOhub to track project progress by task effort, interpret Work in Progress (WIP) calculations, and recognize revenue across contract lines.
Prerequisites
📌 Note: When creating a new project, you can activate auto-completion in the Project Quick Setup wizard at Step 2: Setup contract. This option appears when you select a contract template linked to a plan template.
Steps
- Open the project and click the Financials tab.
- Click Completion Management in the sub-navigation bar.
- Review the Progress column for each contract line. This reflects the proportion of task effort completed across the linked task list.
- Review the WIP column. This shows the uninvoiced earned revenue for each contract line based on the current completion percentage.
- To adjust a completion percentage manually, click the value in the Progress field for the relevant contract line and enter the updated figure.
⚠️ Important: Manual adjustments override the automatic calculation for that contract line. Ensure any manual value reflects the actual state of delivery before using it as a basis for invoicing.
6. To view overall project completion, review the CONTRACT TOTALS row at the top of the Financials view. This shows the weighted completion percentage and total WIP across all contract lines.
7. To view completion across all projects in your portfolio, go to Projects in the main menu and click the Completion Management tab.
Result
Completion percentages are tracked automatically per contract line based on the effort completed in your project plan. WIP and revenue recognition figures update in real time as tasks are marked complete, giving you an accurate financial picture of your project at any point in the delivery cycle.
Changes to completion percentages affect KPI calculations and revenue recognition immediately. Existing invoiced amounts are not affected.
Troubleshooting
The Completion Management tab is not visible in the Financials view.
Completion Management is only available to users with financials access. Confirm that your user role has been granted this permission by your organization Admin.
The Progress column shows 0% even though tasks have been completed.
Each task must have an effort value greater than zero for the calculation to work. Tasks without effort defined are excluded from the percentage. Open the project plan and add effort values to any tasks that are missing them.
The Auto-completion option does not appear in the Project Quick Setup wizard.
This option only appears when a contract template linked to a plan template is selected at Step 2. Confirm that your selected contract template has a plan template association configured in Settings > Templates.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use Completion Management on Time & Materials contract lines?
Yes. Completion Management applies to all contract line types, including T&M, Fixed fee, Product, and Expenses lines. The WIP and revenue recognition figures are based on the completion percentage multiplied by the contract line amount.
Does changing the completion percentage retroactively affect past invoices?
No. Previously issued invoices are not affected. The updated percentage only influences WIP and revenue recognition calculations going forward.
What happens if tasks are added to a task list after completion tracking has started?
The total effort for the task list is recalculated to include the new tasks. This may reduce the completion percentage if the newly added tasks have effort assigned and are not yet completed.
